A Real Superhero

I remember the joy of watching the Superman movies when I was younger. And I remember when Christopher Reeve was thrown from his horse and broke his neck. I remember how crushed I was to see the man who used to fly and save the world in a wheelchair.

After his injury, Reeve seemed to become a one-man army in his crusade to further spinal cord research. Truly, the body was weak, but the mind was strong.

I consider Christopher Reeve to be a real superhero... he let nothing get in his way while working to improve spinal cord research and trying to open the door into stem cell research.

"I refuse to allow a disability to determine how I live my life. I don't mean to be reckless, but setting a goal that seems a bit daunting actually is very helpful toward recovery." - Christopher Reeve
