Child's Play has collected over $200,000 so far this year for children's hospitals around the world. So far I've raised $200 of the $500 I was hoping to raise for them this year.
I think where the $200 came from is a cool story. The principal of one of the buildings I go to asked if there was anything she and the office staff could get me to say thanks for all of my help. Of course, I pimped Child's Play to her and three weeks later she's sending Child's Play a check for $200 from a school-wide collection. Very cool!
So, $200 down, $300 to go.
Now is the time for my gentle reminder to friends and family. This was prompted by Jess asking me about what I wanted for Christmas. I told her about Child's Play and she said, "OK, what else do you want?"
My answers of 'nothing' and 'donations to Child's Play' fell on deaf ears and she has threatened to buy me something. While I appreciate the sentiment, I'm going to share with all of you what I told her. This holds true, no matter what and it may sound rude, so apologies in advance.
I told her that she could buy me whatever she wants, but please include the receipt so I can return it and send the money to Child's Play. If there's no receipt, then I'll auction it off on eBay and donate whatever money I make to Child's Play.
I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that what I want for Christmas, what I really want, is for people to donate to Child's Play.
So, hit those buttons or shop that wish list! There are sick kids who could use toys and games far more than me.
Thanks.

I hope that you'll understand if my contribution is POST-Xmas... we're experiencing QUITE a few unexpecteds right now, and are just trying to make it to the new year unscathed, if possible... though the way it's looking... uh-uh.

Hey... I'm not pressuring anyone to give me anything period. I'd just as soon have people spend the money on themselves... all I'm saying is, if you were planning on getting me something, then hit Child's Play.
If you can't do it without hurting yourself, then by all means, don't worry about it! I'm sure I'll survive =)
Hope things are OK.
