It's been ages since I posted something other than a note to someone special. A lot of blogs I've been to over the years had a section of 100 or so things about the blogger - never really thought about doing one myself because I don't think I'm that interesting. And because some of the ones I read were snooze-rific I could never bring myself to put everyone else to sleep.
But I'm in an introspective kind of mood and like I said, it's been ages since a post so cinch your helmets tight we're going on a trip through Dave Land...
Random Ramblings
1) My full name (minus my surname) is Joseph Glen David.
2) I'm named after my grandfather and two close family friends.
3) The last four or five generations of men on my dad's side were named Joseph. It's tradition, baby!
4) In court, I'm Joseph.
5) Outside of court I'm not (but you already knew that).
6) I have a horrible habit of oversimplifying the hard stuff and thinking too much about the easy stuff (especially when it comes to talking to people).
7) At least one of you already knew that.
8) I was picked on all the time in school.
9) Then I damn near broke some fucker's nose.
10) Then I got stabbed in the arm with a pen.
11) Still have a scar.
12) I have never broken any bones
13) I have never needed stitches
14) I might be invincible!
15) But I doubt it.
16) I'm certainly not tough.
17) I cry a lot. (See #4)
18) Sometimes, I cry myself to sleep.
19) Sometimes, I cry when looking at pictures.
20) Sometimes, I'm moved to tears by music - some of the songs I've posted have done that.
21) The last good cry I had was when I cleaned up the Princess's room and packed up all her baby stuff.
22) She hardly ever got to play with any of it.
23) I don't buy her toys anymore, because what I've bought in the past seems to have 'disappeared'.
24) Cried about that, too.
25) Damn, I've turned into a pussy.
26) If anyone calls me a pussy to my face and means it, I'll beat 'em like Ike beat Tina.
27) The phrase "Tebahpla - Where the cows roam free and the women wear strap-ons!" cracks me up to this day.
28) I still have the advertising pamphlet that phrase is printed on.
29) It was a garage basement band thing.
30) We were weird kids back then.
31) I'm still weird.
32) Maybe that's why I'm still single.
33) I think about one woman a lot.
34) When I was a kid in 1st grade, I thought about a lot of women.
35) OK - they were only 1st grade girls. But I thought about them.
36) Remember 'em too - Monica, Becky, Kelly, Sonia, Jenny.
37) Not bad for a guy with a crappy memory.
38) I stole a kiss from Monica.
39) I never got into that whole cooties thing.
40) Back to that one woman - I miss her.
41) I wish she could come back home.
42) I wish she would come back home.
43) I hope she does come back home.
44) I'm an electronic pack rat - I have emails from forever ago.
45) I read some of hers from a couple of years ago and teared up.
46) Life can be bitch.
47) My dad told me I had a big heart and it would get me hurt a lot.
48) Dad - You were spot on.
49) I think some people spend way too much time obsessing over other people's lives.
50) Get over it.
51) I think I tricked myself into believing I was in love with the wrong person.
52) I was supposed to get married on October 13th 2007.
53) Hot damn, did I dodge a bullet on that one.
54) Instead, I worked overtime on October 13th and made a nice chunk of change.
55) Much better than a wedding.
56) Still want to get married though.
57) Doubt it will ever happen.
58) I want more kids.
59) I definitely want a boy.
60) I hope my sperm are paying attention.
61) I miss my daughter.
62) But not her mother's family.
63) Two-faced is just the tip of the iceberg.
64) I stopped my regular blogging habits because of court.
65) After my blog was used in a last ditch effort to portray me as a suicidal alcoholic.
66) Judge said 'Whatever.'
66) If it was divorce court, I wouldn't care.
67) It's a custody/visitation battle though. Hence the light blogging.
68) I hope she tries to use this list somehow (Your Honor, see #'s 69 & 70).
69) I'm watched when I try to spend time with my daughter.
70) Delays and distractions are commonplace when it's time for my daughter to leave with me.
71) That's all I'm saying about it.
72) I should write a book about it.
73) I stopped writing again.
74) I'll finish my book eventually and probably self-publish.
75) I still live in the city I was born in.
76) I have no plans on leaving. When I look at houses, I look locally.
77) It has its faults, but I love my city.
78) Sometimes I get the impression that that offends people.
79) I don't care.
80) So when I do finally buy a house, it'll be here.
81) Unlike so many people who have left, I believe in my city. I believe it has untapped potential.
82) I keep thinking about running for mayor.
83) I should probably start small and run for alderman though.
84) But so far there's no word on Republican candidates for mayor.
85) Yup, I'm a registered Republican.
86) I feel dirty.
87) I hate Republicans.
88) I hate Democrats, too.
89) The overall irony is that I hate politics, period.
90) But I still want to run for mayor. I think I could do a good job.
91) On politics - I don't think I'll be voting in November.
92) I refuse to vote for a liar with no real experience who lied to the people of Illinois and decided to run for president.
93) His voting record sucks.
94) 'Present' is not an acceptable vote.
95) You're not fooling me again, Obama!
96) Don't get me started on McCain.
97) My vote will go to any candidate that provides a plan for strengthening our borders and enforcing current immigration laws without providing amnesty for lawbreakers.
98) My vote will go to any candidate that stays the hell away from nationalized health care. Everyone who thinks nationalized health care is a good idea, please review the current state of the Social Security and Welfare programs. Then go kick rocks.
99) My vote will go to any candidate that brings our troops home in a timely manner WITHOUT destabilizing the entire region. Once we're gone, it'd be nice if we didn't have to GO BACK.
100) Based on the previous three, I'm fucked in November.
101) My fingers are tired.
102) I still miss her.
103) But she made me smile today.
104) Rainbows do that to me.

OMG... I still, to this day, can't even THINK of the word "alphabet" without hearing that friggin song in my head!
