Today is my daughter's 1st birthday. I can't believe a whole year has gone by already, but the calendar doesn't lie. Next thing I know, I'll be scaring boys away with a shotgun while yelling incoherent threats at them.
Everybody warned me that being a parent would change my life. Nobody warned me that time would speed up.
This was The Grape™'s first Christmas. She came over to the house to spend time with us and got a nice drum with some toy thing in it from Santa.
She also spent a lot of time looking for the Fuzzy Thing a.k.a. the cat. Of course, he spent a lot of time looking for places to hide.
The Grape™ received her first round of shots... and it was hard for me to be there.
As I've explained to a lot of people, I'm used to the "Feed-me-I'm-hungry" cry, the "Change-me-I'm-sitting-in-shit" cry, and the "Pick-me-up-and-hold-me-and-love-me-because-I'm-the-cutest-baby-there-ever-was" cry. Thursday, I heard a new cry when the nurse stuck the first needle into The Grape's™ leg.
I heard the "Ow-something-hurt-me-and-I'm-in-pain!" cry.
I almost beat the nurse to death.
Tomorrow, The Grape™ goes to the doctor for her first round of shots.
If she's anything like me she'll leave the doctor's office wanting to destroy the world.
