Pretty much all I seem to do anymore is work. Which is why I’m blowing the dust off of this thing at 11:00 P.M. After working four months of 10 – 12 hour days, I’m not sure if I’m coming or going anymore.
But that’s not a complaint. I love being busy and getting stuff done. The bonus was working on installing a new door lock system in half of our buildings. Pretty cool stuff that. Learned a ton from the guy I was working with and I’m looking forward to learning more from him when we get back to it. But first, I’ll be putting in time to complete some projects that pertain to my regular job.
Server upgrades galore. New computers to image – which is awesome on it’s own. As a poorer school district, having the money to replace computers is a rare opportunity. So far we’ve managed to replace the majority of the teacher machines we have. Hopefully we’ll find the money to take care of the last group of teachers and then find more to address our student machines. In tech land it kind of sucks that when we’re done, our oldest machines will be 6 years old. But it’s a great feeling knowing that we’re finally making progress and that our oldest machines will only be 6 years old. We’re getting there.
Major email system upgrade in the works. It’ll be nice when it’s done, but it still won’t keep some staff members from thinking that we should be rivaling Google with our mailbox sizes and demanding a 10GB quota. Have to address a power issue before I can bring the new storage array online though. Hopefully that gets done soon.
While I’m enjoying all this work, the downside is that my social life has become non-existent. Lots of work and exhaustion will do that folks – remember to take time to play!
Enough rambling – it’s about time to grab some shuteye.
