The Army Inside

Now get ready for war
It’s starting today

I can feel the distance
Even if you’re closing in
I cannot hide the scars
I still relive them every second
Shots ringing in my head
Bullets chasing me
I brush my fear away
The battle has begun

Now get ready for war
It’s starting today
I’m leading the army inside
I am not afraid to lose
I’m not gonna hide
I’m leading the army inside

I will crush you to the ground
With words you’ll never forget
I’ll hunt you down
It will become the end of your days
The rhythm of my breath calm and slow and deep
I take control today
The fight has just begun

Now get ready for war
It’s starting today
I’m leading the army inside
I am not afraid to lose
I’m not gonna hide
I’m leading the army inside

Now get ready for war
Now get ready for war
It’s starting today
I’m leading the army inside

Today, on what was supposed to be a happy day, you managed to ruin it for me.

Again.

I meant what I said about being selfish. I’m tired of not being selfish in this whole situation when your selfishness is apparently what drives you. I also meant what I said about our relationship – get the fuck out of the way. You’re not helping either of us.

I get it – you don’t trust me.

Guess what? I don’t care. I don’t have to prove myself to you. The only person who matters is eight years old. As long as we’re nowhere near you, we’re fine. Instead of screwing with me, you should me more worried about what you’re doing to her. If you can’t see it, you truly are blind.

I do have to thank you. On this day, a day that was supposed to be happy, a day you managed to turn to complete shit, you still managed to do something for me.

You’ve made my decision easier.

Work, Work, Work

Pretty much all I seem to do anymore is work. Which is why I’m blowing the dust off of this thing at 11:00 P.M. After working four months of 10 – 12 hour days, I’m not sure if I’m coming or going anymore.

But that’s not a complaint. I love being busy and getting stuff done. The bonus was working on installing a new door lock system in half of our buildings. Pretty cool stuff that. Learned a ton from the guy I was working with and I’m looking forward to learning more from him when we get back to it. But first, I’ll be putting in time to complete some projects that pertain to my regular job.

Server upgrades galore. New computers to image – which is awesome on it’s own. As a poorer school district, having the money to replace computers is a rare opportunity. So far we’ve managed to replace the majority of the teacher machines we have. Hopefully we’ll find the money to take care of the last group of teachers and then find more to address our student machines. In tech land it kind of sucks that when we’re done, our oldest machines will be 6 years old. But it’s a great feeling knowing that we’re finally making progress and that our oldest machines will only be 6 years old. We’re getting there.

Major email system upgrade in the works. It’ll be nice when it’s done, but it still won’t keep some staff members from thinking that we should be rivaling Google with our mailbox sizes and demanding a 10GB quota. Have to address a power issue before I can bring the new storage array online though. Hopefully that gets done soon.

While I’m enjoying all this work, the downside is that my social life has become non-existent. Lots of work and exhaustion will do that folks – remember to take time to play!

Enough rambling – it’s about time to grab some shuteye.
